Description
This one of a kind, signed focal piece is actually a combination of 3 pieces: 2 ceramic, and one wire to hold it together. The artist put rhinestones on the wire that are starting to come off, but they can be easily glued back on. The first ceramic piece measures 53.5mm in diameter. The second raku piece measures 40.5mm. The Raku process is a centuries-old Japanese pottery technique that creates unique, variegated patterns. Glazed pieces are fired in a kiln, removed while still red-hot, and then placed in a combustible material like sawdust or newspaper. The resulting oxygen-starved (reduction) atmosphere creates unpredictable effects on the glazes, such as crackling and metallic lusters.
